2 Ways To Sterilize Your Menstrual Cup Between Periods
Most cup brands recommend sterilizing your menstrual cup in between cycles to decrease the risk of bacteria collecting inside. The process for sterilizing your cup is a bit different than the day-to-day rinsing you do when you are actually using your cup. There are a couple of different ways that you can sterilize your cup between periods:
1. Boiling for 7-10 minutes
This is my favorite way to sterilize my cups. Boiling is the most efficient because it not only kills any bacteria and takes off any leftover fluids within the crevaces (like those hard to clean suction release holes and stem grip rings/indentations) but it also helps get rid of any staining on the cup.
2. Milton tablets
Milton tablets are a great option if you do not have access to a stove. Simply dissolve a Milton tablet in a bowl of water and leave your cup to soak for the recommended time specified on the Milton package instructions.
